Proposed School Facility Project

Smyth County voters will consider a proposed 1% local sales tax increase as part of the November 2026 election. If approved, revenue generated by the additional sales tax would be designated for school capital projects.

Two projects identified as part of the proposal would provide new facilities at Chilhowie High School and Marion Senior High. The conceptual plans and renderings below provide a look at the proposed project at Chilhowie High.

Emergency Drill Notification

Smyth County Schools will conduct emergency drills during the school year as required by the Code of Virginia.

Back to School Dance

We will have our first dance on Friday, August 21st. The dance will be at the end of the day from 2:30 -3:15. The cost is $3.00 per person. The Honor Society will have a concession stand for drinks and snacks.
